18-km pipeline installation and platform upgrades boost Gulf of Suez field
What happened
Petroleum Marine Services completed an 18-kilometre pipeline and topside upgrades on the Zaafarana field using its owned barges and dive support units. The scope included a new 4-inch pipeline and three gas-powered generators, executed under an EPCI model that used company-owned fleet units in water depths to around 56 metres. For procurement, watch whether suppliers with owned fleet start requiring tighter mobilisation terms or prioritise bundled scopes
Why the category manager should care
Treat completion as evidence that integrated suppliers can execute multi-scope packages and will charge and contract accordingly; don't assume standard mobilisation terms will hold
