18-km pipeline installation and platform upgrades boost Gulf of Suez field
What happened
Petroleum Marine Services completed the Zaafarana offshore field EPCI, installing an 18-km 4-inch pipeline and upgrading the platform topside while replacing diesel generators with gas-powered units. The work used PMS-owned fleet units and diving support at water depths up to 56 meters, making it an integrated marine execution rather than a contractors-only handover. Watch whether similar retrofits that change power systems appear in nearby projects, as they will change maintenance and spares needs
Why the category manager should care
Treat this as evidence that integrated field upgrades are operationally real and may be offered as bundled EPCI+commissioning packages which shift some O&M risk to delivery-phase contractors
