OSfA’s modernity scrutinised amid 100 feature update backlog
What happened
The Tax Ombudsman reviewed ATO online services for agents (OSfA) and found declining agent satisfaction plus a backlog of 100 system changes awaiting action. The ombudsman recommended improvements to Practice Mail, self-service and prioritisation; the backlog includes items dating before 2022, so fixes will be phased. For procurement, watch supplier claims for extra manual work or mobilisation fees while integrations remain constrained
Why the category manager should care
Treat the ATO backlog as a supplier execution constraint: suppliers dependent on OSfA may need extra time or charge for manual handling rather than a temporary inconvenience
Key facts
- Agent satisfaction reported to have fallen notably in recent reviews
- ATO backlog includes about 100 OSfA change requests, some pre-dating 2022
