PTTEP completes first wellhead platform relocation offshore Thailand
What happened
PTTEP completed Thailand's first full wellhead platform relocation and reuse, moving the Jakrawan K topside, jacket and piles and reinstating it within a development area. The campaign finished in about six months and the company estimates sizeable construction cost savings and emissions avoided versus building new. PTTEP is evaluating multiple additional reuses, so buyers should watch whether reuse becomes a repeatable procurement path
Why the category manager should care
Treat platform reuse as a viable procurement route that can shorten schedules and shift spend to marine transport, refurbishment and certification services
