Local company to carry out soil investigations for Malaysian CCS developments
What happened
PETRONAS CCS Solutions awarded a multi-year offshore geotechnical contract to local firm HELMS to support future carbon capture and storage developments. The initial contract term is three years with an option to extend for two more, and execution will use HELMS’ Keyfield Itqan vessel with an option for a DP2 vessel. This is operationally real for drilling support because it creates a booked vessel and crew pool in Malaysian waters that buyers should account for when planning site investigations or related mobilisations
Why the category manager should care
Treat this as a confirmed local demand stream for geotechnical vessels and crews; it reduces need for imported teams but creates booking commitments buyers must manage
