Foxconn drops VMware, adopts hyperconverged upstart Arcrfra for workloads including AI
What happened
Foxconn said it is replacing VMware with Singaporean HCI vendor Arcfra for GPU virtualization and to manage distributed factory workloads. The rollout covers branch factories across China, Taiwan, Vietnam and North America and ties model-governance features to production systems. Watch whether the change expands into core IT and how incumbent vendors respond commercially
Why the category manager should care
Treat this as a tangible sourcing shift that creates negotiating leverage and execution risk; require migration and rollback commitments
