Black Sea platform slides into place at Europe’s €4-billion offshore gas project
What happened
OMV Petrom and partners installed the Neptun Alpha production platform in the Black Sea, completing major topsides and jacket lifts and connecting significant pipeline infrastructure. The platform is largely automated and will be supported by a dedicated operations and maintenance vessel, making remote‑ops readiness and vessel chartering immediate procurement considerations. Watch subsea pipeline tie‑ins and system testing as the project moves toward commissioning
Why the category manager should care
Treat the installation as a transition to long‑duration O&M contracting; include vessel support and remote‑ops scope in near‑term procurement plans
