North Sea wildcat to be spud by COSL rig next month
What happened
Vår Energi has secured a drilling permit and will spud the 35/6-7 S wildcat using the COSL Prospector rig, with the well expected to be spud next month. The rig is already under contract and has deep capacity, which makes the spud timing operationally real and reduces scheduling flexibility for support services. Watch whether suppliers begin to shorten quote validity or request deposits as mobilisations firm up
Why the category manager should care
Treat the spud as a confirmed mobilisation event that requires confirmed supplier availability rather than optimistic planning estimates
