Altera Infrastructure on FPSO duty for Eni’s West African oil & gas project
What happened
Altera Infrastructure won principal EPCIC agreements with Eni to supply a newbuild FPSO for the Baleine Phase 3 development and will provide a fixed 15‑year bareboat charter. The FPSO will be constructed in China and is sized for large oil and gas throughput, making this a substantial integrated fabrication and long‑term operating commitment. Watch yard allocation and module delivery sequencing, as those will drive mobilization windows and subcontractor availability
Why the category manager should care
Treat this as a material yard‑demand signal; large FPSO builds and long charters can push global fabrication capacity and lengthen APAC lead times
Key facts
- Newbuild FPSO under EPCIC with a fixed 15‑year bareboat charter
- Constructed in China with large oil and gas processing and storage capacity
- Project follows a recent FID and expands long‑term integrated operations exposure
