VARD delivers Japan-bound hybrid construction and cable laying vessel
What happened
VARD delivered and commissioned a 151‑metre hybrid construction and cable‑laying vessel (Discovery) to Toyo Construction with large battery storage, shore supply, removable cable lay system and 9,000‑ton cable capacity. The vessel is immediately available to be contracted for cable, foundation and heavy‑lift scopes and therefore meaningfully increases short‑term marine capacity. Watch whether owners prioritise long‑term charters or regional spot work — quick bookings will tighten APAC availability and influence dayrates
Why the category manager should care
Treat the vessel as an available regional resource that can reduce immediate capacity pressure, but secure conditional booking terms to lock mobilisation windows
